POSITION SUMMARY:

The Advancement Coordinator is responsible for supporting marketing communications and advancement efforts. The primary responsibilities include creating mission-aligned stories, managing media outreach, creating digital content, handling marketing requests, and communicating the organization's social media presence. Advancement support involves coordinating events, reaching out to donors, conducting research, recognizing and engaging with stakeholders across the organization. The Director of Marketing Communications will be the manager of this role.

The ideal candidate for this position must be an exceptional writer, creative thinker, and collaborator. They should thrive in independent and collaborative work within a small team and be adept at navigating a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Specifically, the successful candidate should be a masterful communicator, able to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including staff, students, and external supporters.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media Content and Online Fundraising (30%)

  • Support the organization's online presence by managing social media accounts related to development and organizational strategic efforts.
  • Manage all aspects of uAspire’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, MailChimp, Twitter, YouTube) and website
  • Assist in online fundraising campaigns and crowdfunding initiatives, as directed by the Director of Marketing & Communications.
  • Collaborate to create and distribute insights to publicize uAspire as thought leaders in the industry.

Collaboration  and Communications (20%)

  • Collaborate with all departments to identify external stakeholder media needs
  • Curate and manage uAspire’s communications, event marketing, and editorial calendar for web, email, social media, and media outreach
  • Support in media outreach and other relevant external partner relationships, as needed
  • Respond to and direct website-based inquiries to the appropriate VP or as directed to provide information about the organization's mission, programs, and impact.
  • Manage ticketing request system for Marketing Communications.

Event Coordination & Donor Outreach (20%)
  • Support coordination of event logistics, including venue arrangements, catering, and invitations, in collaboration with the event/opportunity owner(s).
  • As directed, plan and define timelines for execution, participant coordination, and developing strategies with templates for post-event follow-through activities.
  • Assist in volunteer efforts and coordination for events.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of donor recognition programs.
  • Implement strategies to acknowledge and honor donors for their contribution
  • Assist in the development and implementation of donor stewardship communications
  • Assist in the planning and execution of virtual and in-person events, as needed.
 

Media  Research and Development (15%)

  • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies to provide and implement recommendations for improvement
  • Leverage key engagement metrics  to optimize content, messaging, and distributions
  • Identify and research media outlets, producers, editors, and reporters  
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on industry activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered

Research, Analysis, and Administrative Support (15%)

  • Research potential funding sources, including foundations, grants, and corporate sponsors to support the funding pipeline and proposal development.
  • Initiate wealth assessment of major gift donors and prospects, as needed
  • Provide information to opportunity owners on the philanthropic history and interests of existing and potential supporters.
  • Generate quarterly trend analysis reports on fundraising activities, donor demographics, and campaign outcomes, as directed. Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Provide administrative support to the advancement team, including grant reporting, scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
     

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • 3-5  years of relevant professional experience in communications and/or marketing; Minimum one year experience as a full-time communications, marketing, or public relations professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete a written performance exercise)
  • Proven experience developing content for various audiences
  • Experience/proven results managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines 
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks with limited assistance 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, proofreading skills, and an eye for design 
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly (i.e., email marketing and content management systems)
  • Knowledge of basic press and media relations practices

ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 8, 2024
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $66,775 - $78,100. Salary commensurate with experience and education.  
GRADE: III
STATUS: Exempt - full time
LOCATION AND WORK ARRANGEMENT: Fully remote
